We initially planned for October 2016. He then wanted to
change it to May or June 2016 (our 8th year anniversary is in May
2016). I was really rooting for a ber month wedding because I could never
imagine myself getting married during the summer, and July to September is a
big no-no in this country unless I want to get soaked while saying my I do’s.
Since his uncle died in April 2015, getting married
before the one year death anniversary was never a consideration. Besides, we
can’t have less than a year for preparation. He’s also going to take his
consultancy exam (I don’t know what doctors call that) in March next year, so
he needs to focus on that for at least the first quarter of 2016 first. As for
me, I’m taking a vacation to see my family in New York from November until
January, so having a summer wedding would be too taxing.
Speaking of my family, they are all based in the US, so I
needed to give them more time to plan their itinerary. May or June 2016 would
be a little hard for all of them, so I was manipulating the fiancé into
thinking an October Tagaytay wedding is more conceivable and practical.
Besides, Tagaytay is a hotspot for weddings. I doubt we
can get a schedule right away if we want it to be in May or June 2016 (we
started seriously talking about the wedding in June 2015).
I needed to consider a lot of things before setting my eye
on a date. And I personally believe we’re better off having it later next year.
I’m planning to do some DIY stuff, as well as “splurge” on some of the details
of our wedding, so having it a bit later would give me more time.
